Physical and Virtual Card Assignment and Activation Rules

It's important to understand the rules and limitations for assigning and managing Emburse Cards. This article will cover the rules for both physical and virtual cards. Here are the key guidelines:

  • Admins cannot view full card details and will only be able to view the last 4 digits and expiration date of all Emburse Cards, besides those assigned to themselves.
  • For compliance reasons, only the assignee of the card can view the full card information of the virtual card.
  • Cards must be assigned to a user using their legal first and last name.
  • Both physical and virtual cards can only be activated by the assigned cardholder and cannot be activated by an Administrator.
  • Physical card details can only be viewed on the card itself and not accessible on the dashboard.
  • Both virtual and physical cards cannot be assigned to a business, business location, or team.
  • Cards cannot be reassigned to a different user once issued.
  • Virtual and physical cards will not activate immediately upon creation:
    • The cardholder must first accept the terms of service before the card becomes active.
    • After the terms of service are accepted, any future virtual cards issued to that user will default to active upon creation. Physical cards will still require activation each time.
