FAQ: What to Do If Your Card Is About to Expire
This article explains what happens when your Emburse card is nearing its expiration date and when you need to take action. Behavior differs for physical cards and virtual cards.
If You Have a Physical Card
What Happens Automatically
Emburse automatically creates a replacement physical card before your current card expires.
Your current card continues to work until you activate the replacement.
What Cardholders May Need to Do
About two months before expiration, you receive a notification prompting you to log in and confirm or update your shipping address.
Address confirmation is required to ensure the replacement card ships to the correct location.
If You Do Not Take Action
If you do not update your address, a replacement card is still issued.
The card ships to your last known shipping address about one month before expiration.
You are notified when the replacement card is created and shipped.
When the Old Card Stops Working
Your original physical card is deactivated after you activate the replacement card.
If You Have a Virtual Card
Virtual cards are not automatically replaced when they expire.
You and your administrator receive expiration notifications.
Contact your administrator if a replacement virtual card is needed.
